So Dustin just upload a pic to twitter of his bag… If u zoom in he is still playing to r11 MB so apperntly #thislittlethingHASNTchangedeverything 😉
There is indeed a sweet spot. You can define it however you want, but every club has an optical contact spot that maximizes the ball speed.
This isn’t about perimeter weighting, the speed pocket was developed to increase the ball speed across a larger surface area and hopefully help people who miss the normal center position to retain some ball speed and make the iron more forgiving.
It’s not only Taylormade. Almost every manufacturer is using lower lofts in their irons now. But people are still hitting them high, so why does it matter?
Sergio won with the tour version of these irons. But nice try.
Technically, there is no such thing as a “sweet spot.” They are really lowering the center of gravity to make it launch higher and make it easier to get in the air (compensate for stupidly low lofts) and adding more perimeter weighting to make the club more forgiving.
guarantee that not one tour professional will use these irons, they are paid for this promotion
fuck you taylormade and your cheese marketing and lies. that is all.
There’s a video out there with Sean O’Hair you should watch about these. Also, with, I believe their Chief Development Officer. He says yes, the lofts are lower but the launch is considerably higher and their descent is steeper. There are more variables to these irons than loft and length.
Looked like he was using these at the Hyundai ToC. Hit a 6 iron 243 (provided it was on the last hole, which is severely downhill). But 243 with a 6 is SMASHED
Golf is not all about distance….nothing beats the feel of a good forged bladed or cavity bladed iron. If I wanna get more distance I’ll take an other club. plain and simple.
I hit these clubs at dicks. Was carrying the 4 iron 245 yards in the air. Feels like shit compared to my Mizuno mp64s though.
this gained my yardage by 20 yards. if you want to hit far get these
Well its got the same loft as my 2 hybrid so I wouldn’t doubt it
Oh its THAT time of the year again?
Looking forward to trying these clubs
I hear that Taylor Made has a habit of lowing the lofts on clubs to show off more distance..is that true?
I don’t think it does anything for distance directly. That part is misleading and many people misinterpret it. I think it mainly just increases the sweet spot, and retains ball speed on off center hits. That’s where distance comes in…you make the club lower lofted, with a longer shaft to hit it further…it becomes harder to hit. Then you increase the sweet spot and it removes some of that.
Man, I really want to try these clubs. Maybe they’ll send me some!
Seems to be the trend for Taylormade, longer shaft + lower loft = longer distance.
Watch the Dustin Johnson Burner 2.0 video, he hit the 19 degree 3-iron 254 yards. And hit this RocketBladez 20 degree 4-iron 253 yards. I’d like to see an apple-to-apple comparison of the same loft RocketBladez versus Burner 2.0 to see how much of an effect this Speed Pocket really has on distance.
Are you asking me for something?
Case and point.
They do.
They should make a RocketBall.
@TAYLORMADEGOLF What pair of shoes is DJ wearing? They look awesome!

Burner 2.0 4-iron: 21 degree loft.
RocketBladez 4-iron: 20 degree loft.
